The Founders' Foundations

Tre Venting and Gordon Summers each brought over 25 years of hands-on experience across supply chain operations, technology, analytics, and leadership. Tre started at the ground level as a warehouse laborer, working his way through every facet of warehousing, transportation, logistics design, and large-scale corporate systems. Gordon rose to become the chief architect of data science at a $12 billion company, pioneering machine learning and early AI applications to unlock powerful insights.

Solving the Silos and Miscommunications

Together, they had seen it all: the silos that stall progress, the customizations that lock companies into outdated tech, and the miscommunications between teams that derail even the best-laid plans. They knew there had to be a better way—one that combined cutting-edge tools with real-world wisdom, free from corporate bureaucracy and the 9-to-5 grind.

The Evolution of the Platform

In 2016, they launched Cabri Group, a reimagined and updated consultancy from Tre’s 2003 consulting company as a platform for accomplished professionals—people like themselves—who wanted to keep contributing meaningfully without the overhead of traditional employment.

They were soon joined by Andre Hoffner, the third pillar of the team. Andre's career spanned programming, IT, finance, large-scale project delivery, executive leadership, and vendor management. He became the cornerstone of our client advocacy philosophy: bridging gaps between integrators, vendors, and clients where others fail. Andre excels at protecting the goal—holding everyone accountable, finding common ground, and ensuring results aren't sacrificed to competing agendas. This "protect the goal" mindset now infuses every Cabri engagement.

The Story of Our Name

The name Cabri Group tells our story perfectly. It started with a friendly (and famously long-running) debate between Tre and Gordon over "antelope" vs. "pronghorn" after Tre spotted the animals on his family ranch in South Dakota. Gordon, ever the precise scientist, corrected him: "Technically, it's a pronghorn." The discussion raged on for nearly a year—often over scotch—until Gordon's brilliant wife, Ann, pointed out the elegant solution: there's a biological grouping that includes both—the Cabri group (from the French-Canadian term for the animal, embracing both common and scientific perspectives).
